Psycho Wojak, also known as Demonic Grin Wojak or by the phrase "Le Scary Face" is a variant of Wojak with an abnormally large grin and beady black eyes. His first known post was on 4chan in 2018, and beginning in the 2020s, the character has become closely associated with the Political Compass meme and other Wojak Comic formats.

In Wojak Comics, the character has been used as an expression of psychopathy or extremism, whether for extreme political ideologies or some extreme situation involving insanity. The expression has also been used ironically to describe a story involving some type of insanity or extreme situation. He is similar to Trollge.

Origin

The first known Psycho Wojak post was made on the /v/ board on 4chan on September 14, 2018, by an anonymous user who wrote "Have you ever been scared by a game? Not me ." The post received numerous responses, including one that read, "Nice 'jak, what's his name?"

Popularization

The next day, September 15, 2018, an anonymous user posted on the /tv/ board on 4chan the image of Psycho Wojak where he wrote " >yeah man creepy movies don't really scare me at all / tbh what movie actually SCARED you? ".

The Wojak then spread to multiple 4chan imageboards in late 2018 and 2019. An example of this was when an anonymous user posted a thread featuring the image on the /pol/ board on 4chan on July 30, 2019 .

On January 23, 2021, Reddit user Haver_Of_The_Sex posted an image of the Wojak to the /r/PoliticalCompassMeme subreddit with the caption " Who is this guy and why is everything he says super based? ".

The post inspired widespread use of Psycho Wojak on the subreddit into 2021. For example, on March 21, 2021, Reddit user metalandsmthelse posted a meme to the /r/PoliticalCompassMemes subreddit that used Psycho Wojak as a way to portray extreme ideologies, and in this case, German National Socialism.
